The doctor may have to prescribe several on a trial basis until they find the one which will work for you without severe side effects. Some people have side effects from some medications while others do not. Keep in touch with the doctor and if you have any side effects, let the doctor know it so they can get you on another medication or therapy as soon as possible. For those who cannot take medications because of severe illnesses, there is hypnotherapy, which seems to be working well for many. There is also group therapy, one on one therapy with the doctor or trained nurse, and cognitive therapy. Cognitive therapy is fairly new and seems to be helping many without the need for medications. It is an eight session group therapy to teach you how to take a negative and turn it into a positive to get you through your depression or anxiety. It will also help you keep from a relapse of depression.
